About The Role

Position: Event Security Controller

Schedule:  Various shift patterns available through the summer

Hourly Rate: £14.61 - £16.37* (*hourly rate inclusive of holiday pay)

An SIA Door Supervision Licence is essential for this role.

Main Duties:

  • Operate the Security Control Radio Channel, ensuring clear and professional communication between control, security teams, stewards, and partner agencies.
  • Act as a key point of contact for client liaison and event stakeholders, ensuring professional communication and timely updates to support event delivery.
  • Coordinate with multiple teams (security, stewarding, first aid, emergency services) to ensure effective responses to incidents and operational needs.
  • Log and record all incidents, deployments, and significant actions accurately in real time for audit and post-event reporting.
  • Maintain situational awareness of site operations, security deployments, and any developing issues across the event footprint.
  • Support incident management, providing accurate and timely information to supervisors, event managers, and emergency responders.
  • Monitor radio channels and CCTV (if applicable) for signs of developing incidents, suspicious behaviour, or potential hazards.
  • Dispatch resources and personnel in response to incidents, emergencies, or operational requirements, ensuring all involved parties are kept informed.
  • Maintain a calm, composed, and professional manner, particularly during high-pressure or emergency situations, supporting confident decision-making.
  • Work in partnership with event stakeholders to uphold operational standards, guest safety, and positive event experiences.
  • Assist with the delivery of emergency procedures, including evacuations, lost persons coordination, and major incident responses.
  • Conduct detailed shift handovers, briefing incoming controllers on ongoing incidents, outstanding actions, and operational updates.
  • Support post-event reporting and contribute to event debriefs where required.

Requirements:

  • SIA Door Supervisor Licence.
  • Experience in a Control Room environment.
  • Experience in Event Security.
  • IT and systems literacy: basic understanding of incident logging systems, control room software, or CCTV systems (desirable).
  •  Willing to camp on-site for the duration of events (if required). 

About You:

  • Excellent communication skills: clear, confident, and professional radio and verbal communication, with the ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
  • Strong organisational skills: capable of accurately logging incidents, managing multiple radio channels, and prioritising tasks in a busy control room environment.
  •  Situational awareness: ability to maintain a clear understanding of what’s happening across the event site, with good judgement on when to escalate issues.
  • Attention to detail: high level of accuracy in recording incidents and following procedures.
  • Calm under pressure: demonstrates resilience and steady decision-making in challenging or emergency situations.
  • Team player: works well within a team and maintains professional relationships with on-site security, medical, event staff, and emergency services.
  • Commitment to safety: a clear passion for Keeping People Safe and supporting the smooth, safe running of live events.
  • Adaptable and flexible: willing to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and long hours where necessary.
  • Familiarity with radio procedures and terminology.
  • Knowledge of event operations.
  • Reliable and punctual.

If successful you will be subjected to security screening in accordance to BS7858:2019.
