Position: People Casework Officer
Salary: £33,500 - £35,175 per annum FTE (dependent on experience pro rata to 32 hours)
Contract length: Permanent
Location: Lancaster Office - White Cross Industrial Estate, Alston House, Lancaster LA1 4XQ (with occasional travel to other sites)

We’re looking for a confident and people‑focused People Casework Officer to support our managers across a fast‑paced, operational environment.
You’ll lead on high‑volume people matters from conduct and performance, to wellbeing and complex situations, ensuring decisions are fair, consistent, and aligned to our values. Please note: This is an office-based role however, hybrid working may be considered.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of high‑volume people casework ensuring fairness and consistency.
- Provide clear, practical guidance to managers, building capability & confidence.
- Support individuals through challenging situations with professionalism and clarity.
- Use people insights and patterns to highlight risks, trends and opportunities.
- Ensure processes, decisions and documentation meet legal and organisational standards.
- Support the delivery of people‑related projects, frameworks and initiatives.
- Assist in the development and continuous improvement of people processes and tools.
- Support organisational change and transitions with clarity and professionalism.
- Promote wellbeing, inclusion, and psychological safety across teams.
- Where appropriate represent the People function in meetings, briefings, and operational discussions.
Skills and Experience:
- CIPD Level 5 (or working towards) or equivalent people practice experience.
- Excellent written & verbal communication & able to simplify complex issues.
- Highly organised, managing a varied caseload with pace and accuracy.
- Detail‑driven, ensuring accuracy in documentation and decision‑making.
- Capability to support managers in fast‑paced, operational environments.
- Skilled in problem‑solving, conflict resolution and navigating ambiguity.
- Experience handling sensitive information with discretion.
- Confident in using people insights & data to highlight risks and opportunities.
- Comfortable supporting wider people projects & policy/process improvements.
- Able to support change initiatives with clarity, structure, and confidence.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and digital systems with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems.
- Comfortable working across multiple sites, teams, and operational priorities.
Schedule:
- 32 hours per week.
- Monday to Friday with flexibility to agree the working pattern.

Head of People.
